After months of getting zero eggs, our girls are finally laying again!!! And the color variety is amazing!! We have blue, olive green, cream, terracotta, pink, white, and even gray. Yes, you heard that correctly, we have a hen that lays gray eggs!! This is because she is an olive egger that has an extremely heavy bloom. The bloom + olive green of the shell results in an egg that is gray. It is one of the coolest colored eggs we get, imo. I also love the almost bronze coloration of some of the Maran eggs that we get and the splotchy eggs of the Welsummer are also beautiful. Maybe I should try to get some purple eggs! It is a color that is possible to achieve, it just takes a lot of work with selective breeding.
